Wishing You Joy, Love + Peace!

My Favorite 4 Ways to Keep

the Merriment in Christmas!

I’ll be honest, it feels like the Holidays really snuck up on me this year and I’m not as prepared as usual! No cookies have been made or gifts bought ( yet! ) 😅 , so I’m expecting a bit of a rush of craziness before the weekend.

This time of year there are high expectations for many of us — creating a cozy Christmas atmosphere, attending extra events, or finding the perfect gift for that special someone. It’s enough to leave ya feeling pretty burnt out and like there isn’t much left to give to yourself.

While the days may be filled with family, friends, and feasting, how can we fit in even small moments for ourselves?

  • Take a breather! Quite literally give yourself a few minutes of deep breaths. There are many different techniques you can try, but I personally like the 4-7-8 or “relaxing breath” technique. Breathe in to the count of 4, hold for 7, then exhale for 8. Besides helping with stress and nervous system regulation, this is also a wonderful way to get to sleep!

  • Light a candle! If you know me you know I LOVE candles. The warmth and low light that emits from a candle creates a calm and cozy atmosphere. This time of year I especially love lighting scented candles such as vanilla, cinnamon, apple spice and pine tree for some extra holiday cheer.

  • Gratitude check-in ! So maybe the holiday plans aren’t going as expected, you burnt the cookies and the kids aren’t happy with what they found under the tree. In a season where we mostly focus on what we want to receive or give, take a few moments to make a list of what you ALREADY HAVE. Your health, your loved ones, a roof over your head.. . just listing out 3 things you are grateful for can help to bring you a sense of happiness and peace.

  • Dance break! Maybe some holiday stress is leaving your shoulders tense or the extra time sitting visiting with family has you feeling lethargic. Take a quick dance break! Head over to my YouTube Channel and choose a song that gets you up, moving, and loose. It can help warm you up during the cold weather, give you something fun to do with friends, and it’s also an easy way to burn a couple extra calories!

And of course, should you be in Taipei and have time to join us, we’d love to celebrate a Zumba Christmas with you ! We’ve got many chances to get in the spirit together!
