Scan Your Internal System before Updating

Blank screen stare down!

Nothing is quite like those nervous, fingers-crossed moments as you are rebooting your tech device. Holding your breath to keep the panic from a crash or frozen screen at bay while you wait for the verdict:  will the system reset itself or do you have a serious malfunction on your hands?

This week I experienced that exact feeling after getting caught in the rain and thinking my phone had been water damaged. It didn’t, luckily 😮‍💨🙌 , but man was I kicking myself  the entire time for not having backed up the new online videos I’ve been working on (more on that soon!). Rebooting takes a strong system but also a good bit of patience and faith!

With September having arrived, this month we are focusing on the theme of Routine Reboot —  getting ourselves restarted on the wellness journey that may have understandably somewhat fallen off during the summer months. As the rhythm of fall sets in, maybe we want to carve out a designated time each week to destress, focus on more nutritious meals, or finally get into a regular exercise routine.

But before rushing into a complete system upgrade that could end up overloading and overwhelming us, we can use this week to do a “scan” to see where we are now, to check our battery power, and how much storage capacity we have.

What kind of opportunities and limitations are we working with?  For example, after reflection, does a daily walk at lunch time seem more realistic than hitting the gym after a full day at work? Or can you identify places to grab a nutritious snack if you forgot to prepare one at home?

Instead of jumping into downloading tons of new habits and programs, we can also assess what we might find outdated  that we want to press “delete” on as we head into the new season.

What expectations or beliefs are dragging us down that might be better to leave behind if we want to start anew?  For instance, “if I make a mistake with my plan, it’s better to just give up and wait until next Monday to try again.”

What can you learn from scanning your own internal system this week?

If you are feeling the desire to reboot your routine this fall, we’re here to help support your patience, persistence and the belief in yourself that you’ve got this! Come join us on the dance floor or online all fall to dance for fitness and fun!

Keep moving!

xx,

Katie
