Lean into your Fitness Archetype to Get Ahead this Fall

want "extra credit" on your fitness journey?

How many of you have found yourselves stepping into a school setting over the past week? Maybe you are busy with parent teacher meetings, are a teacher yourself, or at the very least have seen the school buses back on the roads. If you're like me, it might have given you a few flashbacks to your days in the classroom.
Thinking back to my own schooldays in the 90s, probably thanks to the popularity of movies like Clueless and The Breakfast Club, there was this kind of obsession with figuring out what “clique” you were in—the preppy kids, the punks, the nerds, the jocks, and so on. “What are you?” everyone seemed to want to know.
It's likely that as we get older, we realize we can't be put into neat, little, clearly-labeled boxes. We are a mix of lots of different facets. And yet, sometimes our mindsets, particularly when it comes to our own wellness, can be somewhat fixed.
This fall, as we settle back into a rhythm, let's have a little fun with it. Read on to see if you can spot yourself in some (or many!) of these different archetypes.
🤓 The Straight-A Student: You're in the front row, laser-focused on the instructor. Whether it’s performing a dance move, dressing for class or meal prepping, you crave perfection (and can be hard on yourself when you “fall short”).
⭐️ Superpower: Discipline and precision.
✅ Extra Credit: Your assignment is to trade one moment of striving for perfection for one moment of pure, uninhibited feeling.
😜 The Class Clown: You’re in the middle of the crowd, laughing and making jokes. Your goal is fun above all else, and you bring a light, social energy to every class or workout.
⭐️ Superpower: Joy and infectious energy.
✅ Extra Credit: Lean into a challenging moment for just 10 seconds longer and find the fun inside the challenge.
💪 The Jock: You’re here to work. You thrive on competition (with others or yourself!) and want to jump higher, squat lower, and finish stronger each time.
⭐️ Superpower: Incredible drive and power.
✅ Extra Credit: Find the power of presence in slowing down, not just in performance.
👩🎤 The Rebel: You're here on your own terms, doing your own thing and modifying the moves your own way.
⭐️ Superpower: Unfiltered authenticity and self-trust.
✅ Extra Credit: Don’t discount the power of community. Whether clapping along in class or saying hi to the person working out next to you, connections help build accountability.
🤫 The Wallflower: You find a safe spot in the back and prefer blending in, while deeply connecting to the emotional side of your wellness journey.
⭐️Superpower: Deep observation and sensitivity.
✅ Extra Credit: Allow yourself to take up space by making your movements just 10% bigger and showcase your ability to tap into feelings as a way to inspire others.
