Connecting to the right network makes ALL the difference, I can confidently say as I struggle to get a WIFI signal typing this😅.

The strength and quality of our connections can add a sense of ease and uplift to the biggest of challenges, or alternatively make would- be-great experiences pretty painful to get through.

This month as we've talked about rebooting our routines, much of it has been about assessing our own habits and preferences, but as always, none of this can happen in our own solitary bubble. We also exist "online," as a part of a network, subject to the influences of others. We are surrounded by coworkers ordering bubble teas or passing around moon cakes in the office, we need to find a quick meal option for someone fussy at home, or we have a family obligation during our workout class time.

Sure, I'd hit all of my wellness goals if it were just me I had to think of,” it's easy to assume. “But come on, real life happens and I can't just think of myself!

True, we can’t control everyone in our extended network or assume our wellness goals align with those of others. Yet, still, we can seek out or create connections that support the direction we want to go in.

Maybe it’s looking for that person in the office who is down for a lunchtime walk, inviting a friend over to test out a healthy recipe, or even throwing on music for  an impromptu family dance party instead of being stuck in front of devices. The presence of others on our wellness journey can add more meaning and fun, keeping us motivated during difficult times.  Doing so, we can also inspire and encourage shared healthy habits for the people we care most about.

Just a few weeks ago, I had a heavy dose of community connection that injected me with so much energy and joy! At another wonderful event hosted by our classmate Nanako, I joined both Tamás Zsolnai and another visiting instructor Yeray Martel from the Canary Islands on stage.

Just as we were about to warm up, Yeray mentioned his nervous excitement to teach for the first time in Asia. "Just enjoy! Zumba here is more about expressing than worrying about impressing," Tamás and I reassured him.

And as soon as the event began, I could see him FEEL what makes it special. The open armed welcome, the friendliness, the consideration and respect for others, no matter the level of  dance ability are some of what makes the Zumba family in Taiwan so incredible.

And this spirit can be found on the dance floor in our classes as well! We have a place where we are able to be supported and encouraged to keep going, to continue to grow stronger and more joyful, then inspired to spread this zest for life to others and the world outside the classroom.

Want to connect to our joyful, welcoming network this week?

Come and join us on the dance floor or in your living room for an online class. Know we are here rooting you on move by move on the dance floor and step by step on your own wellness journey!

Keep moving!

xx,

Katie
