A Simple Plan to grow, pivot, and acknolwledge

October is here already! But before we completely turn the page on September, I want to use our "back to school" theme just one more time to set us up for a strong October!
After all, October is a month of wonderful disruptions! We have the Moon Festival holiday coming up next Monday, a long weekend for Double Ten Day, and before we know it, fun Halloween party classes.
Truthfully, this is usually the time of year that throws me off my game, and I feel my own healthy habits start to slide as we head into the fall and winter months with all of their cozy comforts.
So before we pack away the “back to school” theme, let’s see how we (I’m talking to myself here!) might delve into one more powerful lesson to maintain our momentum and resilience in October. Let's talk about our Wellness GPA.
A traditional GPA is a final grade you receive at the end of your hard work. Let’s turn this around and make our Wellness GPA a forward-looking guide to keep us aligned with our health in October. Here’s how to explore yours for the month ahead:
G – Growth: This isn't about fixing a flaw; it's about watering a seed that's already been planted.
Ask yourself: What is the #1 area of growth I want to nurture in October?
P – Pivot: Life will be wonderfully unpredictable this month, so a pivot is essential. Remember, a pivot isn't a failure; it’s a smart adjustment.
Ask yourself: Based on what felt heavy last month, what is one gentle pivot I can make? (e.g., swapping a rigid workout plan for a joyful dance session when you need an energy boost).
A – Acknowledge: This is your foundation of self-compassion, and it might be the most important part.
Ask yourself: What is one thing I will commit to acknowledging myself for this month? (Hint: It can simply be showing up for yourself on a tough day!)
Speaking of a great pivot... when my own schedule gets crazy, sometimes the best pivot is to move my body in a way that feels like pure joy. It's the perfect way to let go of the to-do list and reconnect with yourself for an hour.
